The JAAS Annual Award for the Best Article in Asian Studies is awarded to outstanding articles published by young JAAS members during the past year (from July 1 of the previous year to June 30 of the present year). Eligible articles, establishment of a selection committee and selection process are defined as follows:
*Award-winning Articles (Japanese only)
- Eligible articles are those published in Aziya Kenkyu (Asian Studies) or recommended by JAAS members.
- As a rule, articles recommended by JAAS members are only eligible if they are published in a refereed (peer-reviewed) journal.
- The board of directors will appoint a number of JAAS members as members and chairperson of the JAAS Annual Award for the Best Article in Asian Studies selection committee, which will make recommendations of candidate articles.
- Based on the recommendation of the selection committee, the board of directors will deliberate and decide the winner.
